Glasgow City Centre - Information & Assistance

Glasgow city centre is a great place for visitors and workers alike, with a wealth of shopping, attractions and entertainment venues there is something for everyone day or night.

A number of organisations are on hand to help make your visit to the city centre as carefree as possible.

GLASGOW COMUNITY & SAFETY SERVICES

Glasgow Community and Safety Services works in partnership with various organisations throughout the city, including Strathclyde Police and Glasgow City Council, to ensure our streets are free from antisocial behaviour and that people feel safe.

They provide community reassurance in a range of ways including through public space and mobile CCTV, uniformed patrols on the streets, security services, and specific initiatives like NiteZone Safer Transport Initiative, which exists to get people home from the city centre.

SHOPMOBILITY

Glasgow Shopmobility supports people with mobility issues or other impairments to be able to shop and to visit leisure, tourist and commercial facilities in Glasgow city centre. The service offers a range of mobility equipment and staff can provide assistance if someone needs help while shopping, perhaps pushing a wheelchair or acting as a guide. In addition, a ‘meet and greet’ service is available where staff bring equipment to customers at their arrival point in the city centre.

With offices in Buchanan Galleries and the St Enoch Centre, the service is ideally located within the ‘the Style Mile’- starting at Sauchiehall Street, down through the pedestrianised areas of Buchanan Street and leading onto Argyle Street.

STRATHCLYDE POLICE

Based at Stewart Street in the heart of the city, Glasgow Central and West Division police provide a 24 hour high visibility presence in the city centre.

Glasgow Central and West Division works together with the Council and its partner agencies in building safer communities for the city’s multicultural population.
